Our company

opaxe is a smart software platform that reconfigures and redistributes information and produces business insights to help mining professionals and investors make better decisions. We utilise technology and machine learning for data collection and human intelligence for the value-added services.

The company was formed in May 2019 and is headquartered in West Perth, Australia with an operational office in Dunedin, New Zealand.

How we work

opaxe is a database of announcements  published by resources companies listed on the world’s major stock exchanges. Although these announcements are available in the public domain, they are not always easy to find. We display these announcements, represented by pins, on an interactive map. Clicking on a pin opens a window showing all announcements available for the project and/or company associated with the pin. There is a download link for each announcement and a summary of the information available including a resource statement, best drill intersections, and the name of the QP/CP, etc.

Announcements can be filtered by various criteria including commodity type, date, project status, stock exchange the company is listed on, reporting code, report type, and transaction size and type. Subscribers are able to set their preferred filters which allows them to immediately access announcements based on their selected preferences, and there is a search tool allowing users to search for specific projects, stock market listing codes, competent persons and other relevant fields.

opaxe is a subscription-based, membership service. Registration to one of our subscription plans is required to view and download announcements, to set up and use filter preferences, and to search for announcements based on selections of commodities, project status, report type, stock exchange listing etc. Our members also receive regular updates and bulletins relating to activity in the minerals sector.

Non-registered users are able to view a limited number of technical announcements but cannot use any other opaxe feature.

Our data

We currently collect essentially every announcement and report released by listed mining companies that is related to exploration activity.
Exploration announcements mostly relate to projects that are positioned on the central part of the mining value chain (see the diagram below).

We also collect transaction announcements relating to transactions of mineral projects at any stage of development.

We will shortly be collecting additional company reports including financial statements, quarterly and annual reports, presentations and general announcements. These reports will also be available via our interactive map.

All data displayed on the opaxe interactive map is available in the public domain. We update our databases daily, and most new announcements are available within 72 hours of their initial publication.

Machine learning

opaxe was awarded an Innovations Connections government grant allowing us to work with the University of Western Australia on a Machine Learning/Natural Language Processing project. The aim is to build an integrated text-mining Toolkit, which will automatically extract data from company announcements to be fed into opaxe’s databases and allow our users to search announcements for specific items.

We are also working with Tekkon Technologies to develop automation of the announcements gathering, handling and processing activities. This will enable us to significantly expand the volume of company announcements collected and republished on our website.
