| Announcement summary: | Cobre Las Cruces S.A.U. (CLC) has successfully operated its open pit mine and hydrometallurgical plant over the last 12 years. Operations have depleted the remaining secondary sulfide Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves which was the subject of the previous NI43-101 Technical Report (TR), dated June 2015. The previous TR disclosed 35.8 million tonnes of Inferred Polymetallic Primary Sulfide (PPS) Mineral Resources. Since June 2015, CLC has continued to extend and improve confidence in the PPS mineralisation. Extensive geological drilling, mine planning studies, metallurgical testwork and pilot plant studies have provided sufficient detail to support a confident PPS Mineral Resource estimate, the subject of this TR. Metallurgical work, via a custom built pilot plant at CLC, has provided recovery data and a processing regime that supports reasonable prospects for eventual economic outcomes. In addition, preliminary underground mine designs and layouts have been studied and developed, providing a realistic mineable boundary for defining Mineral Resource extents. |
